Ian currently works primarily with senior executives and high potentials across the, private, professional services and higher education sectors.  Many of his clients both individually and collectively are under increasing pressure to improve their top line performance, bottom line results and their leadership capability & cultures in an increasingly complex and uncertain world.

He believes leadership (from frontline through high potential to the organisation’s C suite) is about enhancing or scaling the capacity and capability in the organisation to create what matters most.  From his experience he knows that this takes tremendous people, team and systemic capability and these are the areas that he partners with his leaders in developing.  In an increasingly complex, uncertain and volatile world, effective leadership is a competitive advantage.  An organisation needs leaders who can scale the impact that they have and the fundamental shift they need to make to do this is from “me” to “we” and from safety to purpose.  Ian is passionate about partnering with leaders both individually and collectively to transform their capability and to create cultures and organisations that deliver great results and that are great places to work.

Ian’s leadership coaching and consulting practice builds on 30 years of organisational experience gained across a range of general management, business development, consulting, and organisational development roles.  His initial career as a classical musician studying and working in both Australia and West Berlin provided an excellent grounding in and personal experience of the power and importance of collective leadership.

Ian holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Organisational Change and Development (RMIT), a Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Music (University of Melbourne), is certified in the full Leadership Circle suite, is an Accredited Organisational Coach Level 3 (IECL) and is Genos Emotional Intelligence accredited.

He is married and his two samoyeds Poppy and George (who is blind) keep him active and outdoors in all Melbourne weather.  His early career as a classical musician leaves him with a love and passion for live music and concerts and the Melbourne Recital Centre is his favourite venue for its brilliant acoustic and intimate setting.  It’s a venue you need to experience.
